Ideas and Issues is a practical and highly effective book for classroom use with language students. Not only are the topics covered thought provoking, but they are very up to date in terms of current issues. The topics provide the stimulus for classroom discussion, and at the same time present new vocabulary, in an appropriate context. For further assistance in the topic discussion, extra ideas are included for the students to be used as "ammunition" when presenting their argument.
Each topic can stand alone and can be used with or without supporting material. Generally speaking, a "topic" cannot be completed in a one-hour class, but the book is structured in a way that pieces can be selected and covered on their own.
This is definitely one of the best books I have used for classroom discussion in that it covers more than simply providing questions for discussions.
